MusicMondays208 is ready to dive deep into the minds behind the local emo band, Caedus!

Few years back Matt Mudd (vocals), Ryan Mulvaney (guitar/vocals), and Dylan Mudd (drums) started a band called Robotic Backpack Empire that sadly “went absolutely nowhere.” Soon that Matt and Dylan had a falling out with their guitarist in their old band, Doc Brown’s Time Machine. “. We all wanted to play music and decided that we would make time for it to work and Caedus was formed on a summer’s night in June 2015.” The band said. The band took a small hiatus but soon got back into full swing with Lisa Anjewierden (bass) joining the band.

Matt and Dylan’s father was in a band called Bone Daddy and he was a major influence on the brothers to start playing music. Dylan got his start playing rock band drums and moved on to learn the real thing. Ryan found his father’s old Yamaha acoustic guitar and taught himself to play. While lisa learned bass playing in her high school jazz band!

The band’s name Caedus is derived from a character from the Star Wars universe. Darth Caedus was a Jedi knight who turned into a Sith. “Caedus also means “sacrifice” in Latin, which is what we tell most people.” The band added. Much like their unique name the band tries very hard to create music that fits their sound and their vision of the band. “From the lyrics to the instrumentals, we put ourselves into our music 100%. We write from experience and sometimes it means digging deep and going to the dark places of our minds. It isn’t always the most pleasant experience, but it keeps our songs genuine and we think it helps relate to our fans knowing they’re not alone in what they’re going through.” The band concluded.

The band has faced some hardships over the years but one big one they face everyday is growing up. The band members have families and work full-time jobs which makes it hard to focus on the band. Though the band faces the hardship of adulthood they have had a few awesome achievements. Their music has been played on Radio Boise and on 100.3 the x. They have also played Boise Music Festival and V-Fort (Treefort Music Fest)

The band has some goals they would like to achieve in the upcoming year. They would like to record their firs full-length album. Another short term goal would be to play on of the Free X Shows at the Knitting Factor. A long term goal they would like to achieve is to have a career in the music world. “We want to make music and play for our fans and make a living doing it. This means releasing tons of music, playing tons of shows, and having a national following, and hopefully even international.” The band said.
